Pete Peterson is bringing his sense of humor to the gubernatorial campaign. A candidate who has worked in comedy, Peterson’s already bringing sharp one-liners to the forefront of his online, grassroots campaign for the Republican nomination. He announced his campaign in a Treasure Valley strip club, an early sign that his campaign will be anything but conventional. 
“I do not have the slightest interest in becoming Idaho’s next Governor,” Peterson says on his website, which he calls www.beatbutch.com. ”I just want someone other than Butch. By jumping into the fray early it is my hope that some other candidates will join in. I will run a cyber campaign.”
In an interview with Capitol Confidential, Peterson stressed that he doesn’t expect to win the primary, but hopes to see turnout and interest increase.
His three campaign goals are:
1) “Have the most fun I can have.”
2) “Shatter the record for voter turnout.” (His goal is 95 percent.)
3) “Make Idaho a cornerstone of the movement to ‘Free Tibet.’ Anyone who is crazy enough to take on a BEAST like the Idaho Republican Party is too stupid to be afraid of 1,181,213,002 Chinese Communists.”
For those still left wondering how serious Peterson is about getting Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter’s job, his website says:
“You may have noticed that becoming Governor is not one of my goals. It looks like a really crummy job to me.”
