In the news today

Here’s a look at what’s in the Times-News today:

Magic Valley lawmakers weigh in on Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter’s idea to allow state to advance state dollars this year to offset holdbacks. The catch is that the funding would be lost from their state appropriation in the next fiscal year. The overall consensus is that school districts should avoid doing it if at all possible, considering that they’d lose money from the next budget, which will be tight. To read the story, visit here.

Keith Allred, a Democratic gubernatorial candidate, visited the Wood River Valley on Tuesday,  criticizing Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter’s plans for budget cuts and saying Otter’s beholden to special interests. Allred has roots in Twin Falls and is best known in the Capitol for his work with The Common Interest,  a nonpartisan organization. The story is here.
